The Boeing 767 is a wide-body airliner, Boeing's first wide-body twinjet. Launched as the 7X7 program on July 14, 1978, it first flew on September 26, 1981, was certified on July 30, 1982, and entered service with United Airlines on September 8, 1982. In the U.S. there are 571 with a valid registration; the 767-300F freighter is the most common.

Versions
* 767-200 (1982) and the extended-range 767-200ER (1984).
* 767-300 (October 1986) and 767-300ER (1988), the most popular version.
* 767-300F freighter (October 1995).
* 767-400ER (September 2000), stretched again.

Design
Designed to complement the bigger 747, it seats seven abreast and carries the smaller LD2 cargo containers. Its two-pilot glass cockpit, a first for a Boeing airliner, was developed together with the 757, so pilots can share one type rating. Studies for a bigger 767 in 1986 led to the 777.

Registered in the United States
