The Embraer Phenom 300 (EMB-505) is a light business jet designed and built by the Brazilian maker Embraer. It is certified to be flown by a single pilot and can carry up to 11 people.[1] In the U.S. there are 662 with a valid registration.[2]
History
While designing the very light Phenom 100 in the early 2000s, Embraer heard from many customers that they wanted a bigger version. In 2004 it decided to build one, the Phenom 300. The first plan was simply to scale up the Phenom 100, but Embraer moved to a clean-sheet design with more powerful engines, spoilers, winglets and a longer cabin.[1]
The prototype first flew on April 29, 2008, and the Phenom 300 was certified on December 3, 2009, entering service that month. In 2013 it was the most delivered business jet, and in March 2019 Embraer delivered the 500th, claiming more than half of the light-jet market since 2012. The upgraded Phenom 300E was certified in March 2020.[1]
Design
It is a low-wing twinjet with swept wings and two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E engines mounted on the rear fuselage. The structure is 18 percent composite and rated for 28,000 flight cycles or 35,000 hours. The 2020 Phenom 300E raised thrust to 3,478 lbf, top speed to Mach 0.80 (464 knots) and range to 2,010 nmi.[1]
Registered in the United States
The FAA register lists 662 of these airplanes with a valid U.S. registration. Here they are by the model name the FAA uses.[2]
