The Tecnam P2008 is a two-seat, high-wing light airplane built by Tecnam in Italy and aimed at the U.S. market. It was Tecnam's first airplane with major composite parts.[1] It was introduced at AERO Friedrichshafen in 2009, and the first one was delivered to the U.S. in December 2009.[1] In the U.S. there are 90 with a valid registration.[2]
History
The P2008 looks like Tecnam's earlier P92 and P2004, but it has a carbon fiber fuselage with a built-in tail fin, while the wings and tailplane stay all-metal.[1] It can be built as a light-sport aircraft, an ultralight or a European ELA1 airplane, which makes it a common choice for flight schools.[1]
Models
- P2008: the base model with a 100 hp Rotax 912ULS engine.[1]
- P2008 TC: a turbocharged 115 hp Rotax 914 with a three-blade propeller.[1]
- P2008 JC: a version certified under the European CS-VLA rules.[1]
Registered in the United States
The FAA register lists 90 of these airplanes with a valid U.S. registration. Here they are by the model name the FAA uses.[2]
